Hybrid club grooves meet driving techno with Mexican-born flair.

Alinka is the kind of DJ producers and real house heads tend to rate highly because her sound has both proper foundation and a little bit of edge. Born in Kyiv, raised in Chicago, and now based in Berlin, she comes out of classic Chicago house first, but you can also hear Detroit, disco, acid, and European club sensibilities in the way she plays and produces. What makes her stand out is that she does not treat house like a museum piece. Her records and sets feel raw, jacking, soulful, and weird in the right ways, with real groove and enough personality to keep them from sounding like generic revivalism. A lot of that credibility also comes from the fact that she put in years in the Chicago scene, including a long run tied to Smartbar, and later built out Twirl with Shaun J. Wright, so she reads as someone with real roots, not just good taste on the surface. Overall, she feels like a DJ’s DJ in the best sense: deeply informed, stylish without being precious, and able to make classic house language feel fully alive in the present.
