Hailing from Markelo, Netherlands, Lodewijk Fluttert, known as Bakermat, emerged in 2012 as a pivotal figure in the melodic and tropical house movements. His production style integrates organic instrumentation like saxophones and guitars with samples from soul, gospel, and jazz to create a signature feel-good aesthetic. Signature releases include the platinum-selling breakout single Vandaag (2012, Soundplate Records) and the widely streamed Baianá (2019, Big Top Amsterdam). He frequently performs at major global festivals such as Tomorrowland and hosts his own event series, Bakermat Presents The Circus. By consistently blending disparate genres like classical and funk with dance foundations, he maintains a distinct position in the electronic scene that prioritizes accessible, emotive musicality over rigid genre boundaries.
