Boy Harsher

Formed in Savannah, Georgia, and currently based in Northampton, Massachusetts, Boy Harsher is the electronic duo of vocalist Jae Matthews and producer Augustus Muller. Their sound centers on a dark, danceable fusion of darkwave, EBM, and minimal synth, characterized by driving beats and Matthews' evocative, cinematic vocal delivery. The duo operates their own label, Nude Club, which serves as the primary home for their discography, including the breakthrough EP Lesser Man (2014) and the acclaimed studio albums Yr Body Is Nothing (2016) and Careful (2019). Beyond their music, the pair maintains a strong visual identity rooted in their background in film, notably writing and scoring the 2022 short film The Runner. By blending noirish atmosphere with propulsive, club-ready electronics, Boy Harsher has become a defining force in the modern darkwave resurgence, bridging the gap between underground goth subcultures and contemporary electronic festival stages.
