About

C+C Music Factory is an American dance and house group formed in New York City in 1989 by producers Robert Clivilles and David Cole. The act was built around club-ready house production, hip-house rhythms, and big vocal hooks, working with a rotating cast of singers and rappers. Its 1990 debut album Gonna Make You Sweat, released on Columbia Records, delivered the chart-topping anthem Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) alongside Things That Make You Go Hmmm and Here We Go (Let's Rock and Roll). The group earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and collected multiple American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards, stringing together a run of number-one dance hits in the early 1990s. Following Cole's death in 1995, the name continued as a touring live act, and the group still performs its catalog of era-defining floor-fillers for audiences worldwide. Its early records remain a template for the crossover of house, hip-hop, and pop that defined a moment in American dance music.
