Ciel, the professional alias of Toronto based producer and DJ Cindy Li, is a central figure in the Canadian electronic music landscape. Known for her technical precision and adventurous selection, she co founded the label Parallel Minds and established the Work in Progress series to champion women and LGBTQIA+ artists. Her production catalog, highlighted by the 2017 EP Electrical Encounters on Peach Discs and her 2023 debut album Homesick, blends dreamy textures with robust basslines and organic instrumentation. She maintains a long running residency on Rinse FM and has performed at major international venues including Berghain Panorama Bar and fabric. Her sound is characterized by a fluid, genre blurring approach that traverses downtempo, tech house, UK bass, and hardgroove. By consistently prioritizing community building and social advocacy alongside her artistic output, she remains a vital and principled force in the global underground.
