Distorted, hypnotic techno from a decade-plus London underground fixture
Daniel Avery is a London-based electronic producer and DJ working at the intersection of techno, noise, and post-punk. He broke through with 2013's Drone Logic on Phantasy Sound, the label run by Erol Alkan, and followed it with Song for Alpha in 2018 and a collaborative album with Nine Inch Nails member Alessandro Cortini, Illusion of Time, the same year. His fifth album, Ultra Truth, pushes his sound into denser, more distorted territory, built with contributions from Ghost Culture, Manni Dee, HAAi, Kelly Lee Owens and Sherelle. Avery has toured North America supporting Nine Inch Nails, released a DJ-Kicks mix in 2016, and remains a fixture on London's club circuit, including residencies and regular bookings at fabric and Phonox. His live shows favor hardware-driven, hypnotic techno built from distortion and repetition rather than a straightforward DJ set. Over a decade into his career, he continues to be cited as one of the UK's most boundary-pushing electronic producers.
