Derek Plaslaiko is a Detroit-raised DJ who became a fixture of the city's mid-90s warehouse techno scene before building a career that now runs between New York and Berlin. A personal invitation from Carl Craig led to an appearance at the inaugural Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000, and a near decade-long residency with The Bunker New York earned him a Village Voice award for best techno party DJ. He later spent a defining summer as an honorary resident at Visionquest's weekly nights at Club der Visionaere in Berlin. Known for marathon sets that can stretch past twelve hours, he moves freely across techno, house, electro and acid, favoring hypnotic pacing and vinyl selection. He remains a regular at rooms like Berghain, Tresor and Smart Bar and at festivals including Movement.
