Tristan Hallis operates as DJ Boring, an Australian-born and London-based producer who initially gained widespread recognition during the mid-2010s lo-fi house movement. He broke through with his 2016 track "Winona" on E-Beamz, which utilized a poignant vocal sample over atmospheric synth pads and a syncopated 909 groove. Moving beyond his early internet-driven success, Hallis refined a hardware-focused sound that blends Chicago house, Detroit techno, and melodic trance elements. His discography includes the 2018 "For Tahn" EP on Shall Not Fade and the 2020 "Like Water" EP on Technicolour, alongside a curated 2024 mix for the esteemed DJ-Kicks series. A regular fixture on the global club circuit, he has performed at major events like Tomorrowland, ARC Music Festival, and Glastonbury, while maintaining a dynamic live show built around synthesizers and controllers. His current sets and productions emphasize energetic, genre-spanning curation that pays homage to the foundational roots of dance music.
