Berlin-based Japanese selector spinning hypnotic, vinyl-driven minimal and deep house
DJ Masda, born Yuki Masda, is a Japanese DJ and producer who grew up near Mount Fuji in Shizuoka, Japan, and is now based in Berlin, Germany. A vinyl obsessive since the 1990s, he co-founded the respected minimal and deep house label Cabaret Recordings and previously oversaw A&R for Tokyo's Energy Flash Distribution. His sets draw on early techno, futurist electro and the playful spirit of house music, built from short, precise mixes that move between light and dark. Widely regarded as one of Japan's finest selectors, he has recorded podcasts for Resident Advisor, Dimensions, Bassiani and XLR8R, and has performed at major festivals including Houghton, Dimensions, Wonderfruit and EPIZODE. He is a familiar presence at Berlin's Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse and at Tokyo's Air and Womb, and moves in the international minimal and deep tech scene alongside peers like Binh and Nicolas Lutz. Masda remains a cornerstone selector whose crate-deep, hypnotic sets reward close listening.
