George Spivey, known professionally as DJ Scratch, is a foundational hip hop DJ, producer, and turntablist from Brooklyn, New York. He first rose to prominence in the late 1980s as the official tour DJ for EPMD, bringing his razor sharp cutting techniques to their live shows and classic albums. Beyond the decks, he is a Grammy winning producer who has crafted platinum certified hits, including extensive work on Busta Rhymes's 1998 album Extinction Level Event and A Tribe Called Quest's 1998 release The Love Movement. A three time Global Spin Awards Turntablist of the Year, he continues to showcase his technical mastery on global stages, from the Vinyl Destination tour alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff to recent appearances at the Amsterdam Dance Event and Brooklyn's Soul In The Horn. He also champions the culture through his ScratchVision platform, broadcasting sets from iconic selectors. DJ Scratch remains a vital force in hip hop and open format DJing, bridging the gap between classic turntablism and modern club energy.
