Takahide Higuchi operates as Foodman, an experimental electronic producer and painter originally from Nagoya, Japan, and currently based in Yokohama. Emerging in the early 2010s as a central figure in the Japanese footwork and juke scene, his production style dissects club rhythms and morphs them with ambient textures, noise, and Okinawan folk influences. His discography includes the breakthrough album "Ez Minzoku" released on Orange Milk in 2016, "Aru Otoko No Densetsu" via Sun Ark in 2018, and the critically acclaimed "Yasuragi Land" issued by Hyperdub in 2021. Higuchi frequently collaborates with artists across the electronic spectrum, sharing recent split releases with Nikki Nair and producing alongside Koji Nakamura. He maintains a monthly residency on NTS Radio and has performed at international events including Unsound and Low End Theory. His aesthetic relies on playful psychedelia and sterile MIDI instrumentation, creating unpredictable collages that constantly subvert traditional dancefloor expectations.
