Hypnotic techno on stripped, dub-inflected grooves built for peak-time, long-form journeys

Function is the alias of Dave Sumner, a New York born techno producer and DJ who has shaped the underground for over 25 years. He founded the Infrastructure New York label and was a core member of the influential Sandwell District collective alongside Regis and Silent Servant. His sound is stripped, hypnotic, and dub inflected, built for long form techno journeys rather than quick peaks. After relocating to Berlin in 2007 he became a fixture in the city club ecosystem, with releases on Ostgut Ton and Tresor and sets at Berghain, Tresor, and Boiler Room. He continues to run Infrastructure as a vessel for forward thinking techno while touring internationally between New York and Berlin.
