A vinyl-focused selector bridging Afro-Latin rhythms and East Asian heritage through deep cultural research.

Hong Kong-born DJ, producer, and cultural researcher Gia Fu specializes in Afro-Latin music, salsa, and associated tropical rhythms. Operating as a deep-digging vinyl selector, she bridges East Asian heritage with the Afro-Caribbean diaspora through her multidisciplinary project Canton Mambo. In 2021, she produced a full-length big-band salsa album for Grammy-nominated artist Angel Melendez, and she recently released the fusion singles Canton Mambo and Lotus, which blend traditional Chinese instrumentation like the guzheng with Latin percussion. Her international touring schedule includes performances at Glastonbury Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico, Clockenflap in Hong Kong, and the Perez Art Museum Miami. She has also curated music for the Latin Grammys and completed a guest mix for Soulection. By treating the dancefloor as a space for historical inquiry and cross-cultural dialogue, she recontextualizes global groove traditions for contemporary club audiences.
