Chicago born and New York City based producer Ike Velez, known as Ike Release, crafts a distinct brand of analogue rich electronic music that draws from the deep traditions of his hometown. His sound frequently explores textural house, percussive grooves, and atmospheric soundscapes, often incorporating saturated basslines and ethereal melodies. Notable releases include his debut solo album Noir on MOS Recordings in 2014, the Dance Equations EP on his own Episodes label in 2013, and the Night Calling EP in 2021. Beyond his solo work, he is recognized for his live performance project Innerspace Halflife alongside Hakim Murphy. He remains a fixture in the underground circuit, performing at venues like Smartbar in Chicago and Good Room in New York City, while maintaining a consistent output through his Episodes imprint. His work stands out for its ability to balance raw, machine driven energy with a meditative, journey oriented approach to dance music.
