Joey Beltram, born in Queens, New York, is an American DJ and record producer widely recognized as a pioneering force in electronic music since the early 1990s. He is best known for his seminal techno tracks "Energy Flash" (1990, R&S Records/Transmat) and "Mentasm" (1991, R&S Records), the latter co-produced with Mundo Muzique, which introduced the iconic "hoover" sound. Beltram's sound evolved from early electro and house roots into a harder, industrial-tinged techno style, characterized by relentless club rhythms and a driving, hypnotic intensity.
