About

A pioneering Dutch-Filipino producer who defined the electro house and Bloghouse sound.

Born in the Philippines and raised in the Netherlands, Lucas van Scheppingen, known as Laidback Luke, is a foundational figure in the evolution of electro house and Dutch house. Emerging from the underground dance scenes of the 1990s, he gained early recognition for his technical prowess and genre-blurring productions, eventually becoming a central architect of the Bloghouse era. His discography includes seminal releases such as the 1998 debut album Psyched Up, the 2003 mix album Windmill Skill, and the 2025 CODE/RED EP, which marked a deliberate return to his raw, high-energy roots on Dim Mak Records. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major artists including Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, and James Brown, while fostering new talent through his Mixmash Records label. Recently, he has focused on a creative reinvention, blending nostalgic Bloghouse textures with modern, gritty electro house production. His enduring influence stems from a commitment to technical innovation and a consistent ability to bridge the gap between underground club culture and global festival stages.
