Queer techno DJ and scholar blending dark club sounds with rigorous cultural analysis.
Madison Moore is a DJ, interdisciplinary scholar, and cultural critic based on the East Coast whose work bridges academic theory and underground club spaces. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, Moore is deeply invested in the sonic and spatial strategies of queer nightlife and authored the 2018 book Fabulous: The Rise of the Beautiful Eccentric. As a selector, Moore delivers a sound described as dark and sickening techno, blending fast, rippling leads with psychedelic and experimental club elements. Moore is the creative director and resident DJ of Opulence, a queer techno party and art collective originally launched in London. Recent performances include sets at Basement in New York City, Honcho Campout, and the Dweller festival, alongside a nightlife residency at The Kitchen. By fusing rigorous cultural analysis with visceral dancefloor energy, Moore continually redefines the political and aesthetic possibilities of modern techno.
