Hameed, known professionally as Meedy, is a New York City-based DJ, producer, and founder of the Afro-electronic label and event series DESCENDANTS. Born in Queens to Afghan refugees, his musical foundation began with playing the tabla before he transitioned into electronic music production. He specializes in Afro house, Afro tech, and 3-step, blending deep, culturally inspired rhythms with driving club energy. Meedy has shared stages with prominent artists like Caiiro, Shimza, and MöRDA, and has performed at renowned venues including Fabric in London, Club Space in Miami, and the Knockdown Center. His recent activity includes hosting international DESCENDANTS showcases across Johannesburg, Amsterdam, and Nairobi, alongside a guest takeover on Soulection Radio and the release of his 2024 single "Rotator." As a curator and artist, his sound bridges global diasporic grooves with immersive, community-driven dancefloor experiences.
