Nourished by Time is the musical project of Baltimore native Marcus Brown, a singer, songwriter, and producer whose work synthesizes lo-fi indie pop, post-punk textures, and early 1990s R&B. Initially conceived in Los Angeles as a creative outlet during his time working day jobs, the project gained critical attention with the 2023 debut album Erotic Probiotic 2, released via Scenic Route. Brown subsequently signed to XL Recordings, where he released the Catching Chickens EP in 2024 and his sophomore album The Passionate Ones in 2025. His sound is characterized by a metamodernist approach, blending introspective, often politically charged lyrics with a hazy, time-warped production aesthetic. He has collaborated with artists such as Yaeji and Dry Cleaning, while maintaining a reputation for a DIY ethos that transforms production limitations into distinct stylistic assets.
