Perel, the alias of German producer and vocalist Annegret Fiedler, crafts a distinct sound that bridges the gap between brooding synth pop and driving club music. Originally from Saxony, she established herself within the Berlin underground scene before gaining international recognition as the first German artist signed to DFA Records. Her debut album Hermetica, released in 2018 on DFA, and her 2022 follow-up Jesus Was an Alien on Kompakt, showcase her signature blend of cosmic disco basslines, thumping techno synths, and evocative vocal hooks. Perel is widely noted for her hybrid live sets, where she sings live over her own DJ selections to create a hypnotic, theatrical performance.
