A Detroit legend blending soulful house with jazz-infused live instrumentation.

Detroit native Patrick Scott, known professionally as Scott Grooves, is a foundational figure in the city's electronic music lineage. After early exposure to the Music Institute and a tenure playing keyboards for Inner City, he gained international recognition with his 1997 debut single A New Day and the 1998 album Pieces of a Dream, both released on Soma Records. His production style frequently bridges the gap between house, techno, and jazz, often incorporating live instrumentation and collaborations with artists like Roy Ayers. He maintains a fiercely independent approach through his own imprints, including Natural Midi and Modified Suede Recordings, while continuing to perform globally. His work remains a vital link between the classic Detroit sound and contemporary, instrumentally driven dance music.
