Experimental performance art duo creating hybrid DJ sets and multimedia soundscapes.

SCRAAATCH is an experimental music and performance art duo comprised of E. Jane and chukwumaa, who also record solo as MHYSA and lawd knows. Based in Brooklyn, New York, the pair emerged from the Philadelphia scene to create multimedia works that blend club music, synthesizer drones, and archival visual materials. Their practice explores themes of Black diasporic communication, generational trauma, and the socio-political dynamics of urban environments. Notable releases include the Teardrops EP (2019) and the Labyrinth mixtape (2015) on Halcyon Veil, alongside a recurring residency on NTS Radio. They frequently perform at major arts institutions and festivals, including MoMA PS1, The Kitchen, and Rewire, utilizing a chaotic, hybrid DJ and live PA format. By merging African diasporic art with experimental electronics, the duo challenges the boundaries of the club space and the DJ form.
