Shed is the main alias of Rene Pawlowitz, a German producer and DJ based in Berlin and one of techno's most respected figures. His 2008 debut Shedding The Past was named album of the year by Resident Advisor and helped fold dub techno, breakbeat and hardcore rave history into a modern sound. He records prolifically under aliases including Head High, WAX and EQD, and has released on Ostgut Ton and his own labels. Live and behind the decks he moves between deep, dubbed techno and harder, rave-tinged energy. His influence runs deep across the contemporary underground.
