London native Nicolaas Douwma operates as Sub Focus, a central producer and DJ in modern drum and bass and crossover electronic music. He built his reputation on propulsive, dancefloor-oriented productions, eventually evolving his sound to incorporate elements of progressive house, electro, and trance. His catalog includes defining tracks like the 2019 club staple "Solar System" and the 2024 John Summit collaboration "Go Back", alongside his 2023 album "Evolve" on EMI. In late 2025, he released his fourth solo studio album, "Contact", via Casablanca Records, featuring vocal-driven collaborations with Grimes and Katy B. Douwma frequently performs alongside Dimension, Culture Shock, and 1991 as part of the Worship collective, which recently became the first drum and bass act to headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. His recent touring schedule includes closing the IICON stage at Glastonbury Festival and bringing his Circular Sound audiovisual show to sold-out crowds at Alexandra Palace and The Shrine in Los Angeles.
