Indie electropop duo delivering danceable, synth-driven DJ sets with warm, playful energy
Sylvan Esso is an indie electropop duo from Durham, North Carolina, formed by vocalist Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn. They broke through with the 2013 single "Coffee" and their self-titled 2014 debut on Partisan Records, pairing Meath's folk-rooted vocals with Sanborn's playful electronic production. Later albums "What Now" (2017) and "Free Love" (2020) expanded that sound and earned the duo Grammy nominations, including for the single "Radio." They have toured the festival circuit widely, with sets at Bonnaroo and Pitchfork Music Festival, and Meath also performs in Mountain Man while Sanborn releases solo work as Made of Oak. Alongside their full band shows the pair have increasingly played standalone DJ sets, trading their live arrangements for a looser, dancefloor-minded mix.
