David Flores operates out of Los Angeles as Truncate, a project he launched in 2011 to explore the raw, stripped-down mechanics of deep techno. Rooted in the Southern California warehouse circuit, he became a foundational figure in the local scene as a resident of the Droid Behavior Interface events and co-founder of the Observe party series. His discography is defined by precision-tooled machine funk, highlighted by signature releases like the 2014 Pressurize EP on 50Weapons, his 2015 Submission collaboration with Jimmy Edgar on Ultramajic, and the 2021 Sketch EP alongside James Ruskin on Blueprint. Flores maintains a rigorous international touring schedule, regularly bringing his booming, hypnotic sound to institutions like Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, and the Movement Festival in Detroit. Recent activity includes 2026 releases on his eponymous Truncate imprint and headline appearances at underground fixtures like BASEMENT in New York.
