Born in Sao Paulo and raised in Buffalo, New York, Volvox emerged as a pivotal figure in the American underground techno scene. Her sound is defined by tough, stripped-back techno, acid-drenched textures, and muscular EBM influences, often described as a visceral soundtrack to an emergency. A former resident at the Bossa Nova Civic Club and a key member of the influential Discwoman collective, she has built a global reputation through high-energy sets at venues like Berghain in Berlin and festivals such as Dekmantel. She remains a dedicated advocate for queer and FLINTA representation in electronic music, currently spearheading the event series ABOV in New York City. Volvox stands out for her surgical mixing technique and an uncompromising, raver-rooted approach that prioritizes the physical intensity of the dance floor over escapist atmosphere.
