Progressive

Joel Zimmerman, known professionally as deadmau5, is a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ originally from Niagara Falls and based in Toronto, Ontario. He emerged in the late 2000s as a defining figure in progressive house and electro house, building a massive global audience through his distinct, melodic approach to club music. His extensive catalog includes signature releases like the 2009 track "Ghosts 'n' Stuff" on Ultra Records and "I Remember" alongside Kaskade in 2008 on mau5trap. As the founder of the mau5trap imprint, he has cultivated a roster of innovative electronic artists while maintaining a rigorous touring schedule that includes headline performances at major festivals like Tomorrowland and Electric Daisy Carnival. In recent years, Zimmerman has continued to expand his collaborative footprint, forming the Kx5 project with Kaskade and releasing the 2026 single "Science" featuring Stevie Appleton. His aesthetic pairs highly technical, synthesizer driven production with a recognizable visual identity, anchoring his live shows with custom stage designs and his iconic mouse helmet.
