Based in Bremen, Germany, Stephan Bodzin is a seminal figure in the global melodic techno scene. A classically trained musician and the son of an experimental composer, he transitioned from scoring European theatre productions to defining a distinct, synth-heavy sound often dubbed the Bremen Sound. His discography includes the influential albums Liebe Ist, Powers of Ten, and Boavista, the latter released on the Afterlife label. Bodzin is widely recognized for his sophisticated live act, where he utilizes custom MIDI controllers and analog synthesizers to perform complex, high-impact soundtracks in real time. His work remains a cornerstone of modern electronic music, bridging the gap between underground techno precision and emotive, cinematic composition.
