Marshall Jefferson

House

HEADLINER

A foundational architect of the Chicago house scene, Marshall Jefferson emerged from the city's post office and Music Box club circuit to define the sound of a generation. His 1986 anthem Move Your Body on Trax Records introduced piano to the genre, while his production work on Phuture's Acid Tracks in 1987 helped ignite the global acid house movement. Throughout his career, he has navigated diverse sonic territories, from the spiritual depth of his deep house productions like Open Our Eyes to his 1997 studio album Day Of The Onion. Now based in Manchester, England, he remains an active touring DJ and producer, frequently collaborating with artists like Ten City and Solardo. His work consistently prioritizes emotional resonance and musicality over mere studio artifice. As a primary innovator who bridged the gap between rock influences and electronic dance music, Jefferson remains a central figure whose early contributions continue to underpin the structural DNA of modern house.
