HEADLINER

A foundational figure in the Chicago ghetto house scene, Thomas Kendricks, known as DJ Slugo, helped define the raw and high energy sound of the city during the 1990s. His production style relies on stripped back drum machine patterns, repetitive vocal loops, and a relentless club focus that bridges the gap between classic house and the evolution of footwork. Signature releases such as the 1997 EP 11th Street and the 2002 track Like It Raw on Dance Mania exemplify his influence on the development of jacking dance music. He remains an active presence in global club circuits, frequently performing at venues like Nowadays in New York City and various festivals that celebrate the lineage of Chicago dance music. His work stands as a vital pillar of the ghetto house canon, providing the rhythmic blueprint for generations of producers who prioritize raw energy and percussive drive.
