Derrick Carter

House

HEADLINER

Derrick Carter is a Chicago house legend known for joyful, funky, disco-soaked sets that helped define the city’s second wave of house in the 1990s. He grew up in Chicago’s suburbs, started DJing as a kid, and went on to become one of the genre’s most respected selectors, with a style rooted in house but always open to soul, jazz, disco, and raw club energy. Beyond DJing, he is also a key producer and label figure, with ties to projects like Classic Recordings and a long-running reputation as one of the most technically gifted and personality-filled DJs in dance music. More than almost anyone, Carter represents the playful, deeply musical side of house, where groove, warmth, and crowd connection matter just as much as track selection.
