Beats Antique is a San Francisco-based experimental world fusion trio that has redefined the boundaries of live electronic performance. Formed in 2007 by multi-instrumentalists David Satori and Tommy "Sidecar" Cappel alongside celebrated belly dancer and composer Zoe Jakes, the group pioneered the genre of "ethnotronica." Their sound is a masterful alchemy of the ancient and the futuristic, weaving traditional Middle Eastern rhythms, Balkan brass, and French Gypsy jazz with the heavy low-end of dubstep, glitch, and hip-hop. Born from the "Bellydance Superstars" project, they have released a string of acclaimed albums including Collide and Shadowbox, but they are best known for their immersive live spectacles. A Beats Antique show is a multimedia event featuring intricate choreography, shadow puppetry, and custom visual art that transforms venues into otherworldly realms. As staples of the global festival circuit, from Coachella to Burning Man, they continue to captivate audiences with a performance style that is visually stunning, sonically adventurous, and utterly unique.
