Magic City Hippies is a Miami-born indie-funk trio that captures the neon-lit, sun-soaked energy of South Florida. Comprised of Robby Hunter, Pat Howard, and John Coughlin, the group evolved from street busking origins (as the Robby Hunter Band) into a festival juggernaut known for their infectious blend of psych-pop, funk, and lo-fi hip-hop. Their "Magic City" sound—characterized by breezy guitar licks, synth-heavy grooves, and falsetto hooks—is tailor-made for poolside listening and golden-hour festival sets. With acclaimed releases like Modern Animal and Water Your Garden, they have toured relentlessly, gracing stages at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits. Their 2025 album Enemies showcases a deeper, more emotionally resonant evolution of their sound, blending disco-funk with acid-house textures. Live, they are known for sweaty, exuberant performances that transform venues into beachside parties, cementing their reputation as one of the most engaging live acts in the indie scene.
