Scales

House

Manhattan-based DJ Dylan Scales may be a newer name in the scene, but the appeal is already clear. His sound is deeply rooted in New York’s underground community, and that comes through in the way he plays. He is not just someone trying to DJ because it looks cool. He is a real fan of the music and of the culture around it, and that kind of genuine investment shows up in his selections. His sets lean groovy, headsy, and dancefloor-focused, with plenty of underground cuts and the kind of tracks that feel chosen by someone who actually spends time paying attention to local rooms, local DJs, and what works in the city. Inspired by acts like Ky William and Slugg, he pulls from that same groove-forward, club-rooted lane, but with his own emerging identity starting to take shape. His debut at Laissez-Faire turned heads and left a strong impression, and if that first showing is any indication, Dylan Scales feels like the kind of new local talent who could become a real fixture in the downtown and underground circuit.
