The Carry Nation

House

The Carry Nation is a New York duo whose credibility is inseparable from the actual history of queer nightlife in the city. Made up of Nita Aviance and Will Automagic, they play with a deep-rooted, big-room house sensibility that pulls from classic New York house, disco, vocal anthems, darker afterhours energy, and the kind of high-drama dancefloor instinct that only comes from years inside the culture. What makes them stand out is that they do not just feel like DJs playing queer nightlife, they feel like artists who helped shape it. They are especially known for marathon back-to-backs and their long-running Good Room party, and their sets carry that rare mix of theatricality, soul, toughness, and release that makes sense in both proper club spaces and more hedonistic sunrise territory. They read less like a trend-driven act and more like a true institution of New York queer dance culture.
