Originally from rural North Carolina and currently based in Baltimore, Maryland, gum.mp3 is a multimedia artist, DJ, and producer who explores the genealogy of Black dance music through an Afrofuturist lens. His sound fuses regional United States club styles with United Kingdom garage, jungle, and deep house, often incorporating elements of funk and jazz. As a core member of the New York City collective eldiaNYC alongside Swami Sound and Dazegxd, he has helped cultivate a thriving underground community centered around diverse dance rhythms. His discography includes the 2023 collaborative jungle exploration "Girls Love Jungle" with Dazegxd, the 2023 "Riddim Seeker" project released via Ghostly International, and his 2024 solo album "Black Life, Red Planet" which Resident Advisor highlighted as a standout release of the year. Operating his own imprint, Gum Studio, he recently released the 2025 collaborative project "State of Emergency" with Swami Sound while maintaining a busy performance schedule at venues like Transmission in Washington, District of Columbia.
