Klangkuenstler has become one of the defining names in the newer wave of harder European techno, but what makes him hit is that his sound does not feel like empty hard-techno content or pure kick-drum brutality. Underneath the speed and force, there is a very deliberate connection to ’90s and early-2000s rave and techno, which is why his sets feel more driving, hypnotic, and emotionally charged than a lot of the more disposable industrial stuff floating around right now. He actually started out making deeper house and tech house before shifting harder around 2018, and that evolution matters because you can still hear a sense of groove and structure in the way he builds tracks instead of just chasing shock value. Through Outworld, he has also built a whole visual and sonic world around that sound, which helped position him not just as another hard techno headliner but as one of the artists really shaping what this current raw, old-school-meets-new-school Berlin techno wave looks like.
