Techno journeyman blending dark grooves with melodic soundscapes globally.

Maceo Plex is one of those artists whose appeal comes from how hard he is to pin down cleanly. Underneath the name is Eric Estornel, who has also worked as Maetrik and Mariel Ito, and that range says a lot about the music itself: house, techno, electro, melodic tension, darker futurist textures, all filtered through a very distinct sense of atmosphere. What has always made him stand out is that even when the records are sleek and driving, there is usually something slightly alien, emotional, or off-center in them that keeps them from feeling like generic peak-time tools. He came up through the deeper end of tech house and techno, then grew into one of the defining global names in the more melodic, cinematic side of club music, all while keeping enough edge to still feel credible to heads.
