Chicago house legend, raw acid and jackin grooves with vocal-driven, old-school swagger

Mike Dunn is a Chicago house pioneer from the city's Englewood neighborhood, DJing and producing since the mid-1980s. He came up spinning disco, funk, and prototype house at block parties alongside originators like Ron Hardy and Larry Heard, and released his debut 'Dance You Mutha' on Westbrook Records in 1987. As MD X-Spress he cut the enduring anthem 'God Made Me Phunky', later reissued on Defected Records, and built a catalog of acid, hip-house, and vocal-driven Chicago tracks. A member of the Chosen Few DJs, he has played Panorama Bar, Fabric, Boiler Room Chicago, Glastonbury, and Electric Forest, and tours with Defected, Classic Music Company, and Glitterbox. He runs his own Blackball Muzik label and remains one of house music's most quotable, old-school voices. His September 5 set anchors Glitterbox at House of Yes in Brooklyn.
