Nicky Elisabeth sits in that melodic house and techno lane, but she is a lot more nuanced than the generic “afterlife-style” tag people throw around too easily. Her sound has a real sense of elegance and propulsion to it. You get hypnotic grooves, emotional synth work, and that polished late-night feel, but usually with enough tension and movement to keep it from drifting into background music. Coming out of the Netherlands and later aligning with spaces like De Marktkantine, plus labels like Kompakt and Anjunadeep, she developed in a part of the scene that values atmosphere and taste as much as pure dancefloor force.
