Schmoop is the project of Houston producer Will Russek, working in the electronic and bass music landscape. His sound fuses gritty bass, glitchy textures and infectious boom-bap beats, drawing on downtempo, glitch hop, jungle and drum and bass, with roots in the pixelated soundscapes of early video games. Releases include the EPs Afterglow, Collapse and Focal Point, plus the collaborative favorite Gnomad with Jade Cicada, and he is one half of the duo Wonky Llama. Schmoop performs across the United States bass circuit and shares bills with Jade Cicada and Mickman, including a booking at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. His blend of low-end weight and hip-hop groove has carved out a distinct niche in the American bass scene.
