Kerstin Egert, known as Tama Sumo, is a German DJ and producer who established herself in Berlin's electronic music scene after moving there in 1990. She began her DJ career in 1993 at Drama bar, initially focusing on New York style vocal house. Her extensive residencies include a decade at Tresor starting in 1994, followed by a long-standing position at Panorama Bar and Berghain since 2004. Tama Sumo's sets are celebrated for their varied style, seamlessly blending house, techno, disco, broken beat, soul, funk, and Afro beat, characterized by deep, funky, and soulful grooves. She has released collaborative EPs with Prosumer on Ostgut Ton, including "Play Up" and "Brothers, Sisters" in 2008, and co-curates the 'Your Love' events with her wife, Lakuti. Her intuitive approach to DJing, prioritizing emotion and connection, has cemented her reputation as a highly respected selector globally.
