The Advent

Techno

The Advent is the solo project of Cisco Ferreira, a London based producer and DJ born to Portuguese parents on the island of Madeira. He started releasing records in 1988 and became one of the earliest artists to perform techno as a live PA, after working as a recording engineer alongside house and techno figures including Derrick May and Marshall Jefferson. Through the 1990s he and Colin McBean set a standard for raw, energetic electro and techno as The Advent and G Flame, and Ferreira has carried the project forward as a solo act since the late 1990s. He runs his own techno imprint, Kombination Research, and has released on labels such as Tresor, Drumcode, Synewave and MB Elektronics. His sets are regular fixtures at Berlin institutions including Berghain and Tresor, alongside festival slots at Awakenings and Nature One. Decades in, Ferreira remains a steady, uncompromising voice for stripped back, hardware driven techno.
