Mister Sunday is a long-running New York dance party created by DJs Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin, growing out of their outdoor Sunday Best parties in Brooklyn in the late 2000s. The series became known for daytime dancing in open-air spaces, pairing serious music programming with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that feels closer to a neighborhood gathering than a traditional nightclub. Its music is intentionally broad, moving through house, disco, techno, soul, funk, dub, and other sounds depending on the selectors behind the decks. After years of moving through backyards and DIY spaces, Mister Sunday found a permanent home at Nowadays, the Ridgewood venue Carter and Harkin co-founded and originally built in part to house their parties. The series emphasizes high-quality sound, inclusive dance floors, minimal distractions, and a community that has grown alongside it for well over a decade. Along with sister party Mister Saturday Night, it has become one of New York’s most enduring and internationally recognized independent dance-music institutions.
