Lovie

House

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Lovie is a DJ and curator whose practice bridges the gap between archival research and community-focused dance floor experiences. Originally from Washington, D.C., she gained prominence through her long-running Summer School Radio residency on The Lot Radio, which explores a sonic spectrum spanning ambient, spiritual jazz, soul, and alternative R&B. As a co-founder of the Soul Connection party series, she actively promotes Black femme empowerment within nightlife, fostering inclusive spaces that prioritize connection and musical education. Her club sets are characterized by a patient, soulful approach, weaving together slow-groove disco, funk, and house music with a focus on storytelling and empathy. Recognized as a breakthrough talent in 2024, she holds a residency at the Brooklyn club Public Records and has performed at institutions including MoMA and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Lovie stands out in the contemporary scene for her commitment to the listening experience, treating DJing as a spiritual practice that binds community activity with deep musical discovery.
